Funding for Piedmont School Teachers and Administrators: The PEF Grants Program
Every year, PEF provides teachers and administrators the opportunity to submit proposals seeking funding for unique and innovative approaches to curriculum and program.
PDF versions of our Grant application forms and information about our Fall and Spring Grants are available for download at the right.
Please follow the process below when applying for grants from PEF.
Grant Application Process
Funding Criteria - The Piedmont Educational Foundation evaluates grant requests based upon specific criteria. We are especially interested in funding requests that:
- Champion innovation.
- Promote academic excellence.
- Benefit students and their environment.
- Address District or school site goals.
- Demonstrate potential for District-wide benefit.
- Are primarily one-time grants.
- Identify personnel (teachers, parents, classified personnel, students, professionals, companies) capable of carrying out objectives.
- Are cost-effective and not eligible for complete funding by other sources. Accurate cost figures, including tax and shipping, must be included.
- Operate within a stated time frame; for example grants made in fall 2007 should be implemented by the start of the spring 2007-2008 semester.
- Incorporate an evaluation plan. The evaluation should be submitted to the Piedmont Educational Foundation Grants Committee Chairperson Carol Quan.
Allocation Process:
- The grant applications are distributed by the Superintendent to the school principals and are made available to the staff at the school sites.
- Applications are submitted to the respective site principals. The principals and, in turn, the Superintendent review and evaluate the proposals.
- The proposals are submitted to the Piedmont Educational Foundation Grants Committee. The Grants Committee, a sub-committee of PEF, meets and reviews each grant. Additional information may be requested from applicants at this point.
- Based on these reviews, its own evaluation of the proposals, and such additional data as it may request, the Grants Committee prepares its recommendations for the Board of Directors of the Foundation, and the Board, as a whole, acts on the recommendations.
- A Grants Committee member notifies Grant applicants of the Grants Committee/Board of Directors decision.
- Grant recipients will be expected to submit a follow-up summary report/evaluation to the Piedmont Educational Foundation. Grant recipients will also be selected to make a short presentation to the PEF Board at their regular meetings to share their experiences.
