GIVING TO THE ENDOWMENT

INVESTING FOR THE FUTURE

Give to the Endowment Fund, and give in perpetuity.  The Endowment is an ongoing source of sustained, long-term funding for students of today and tomorrow. Valued at over $9.2 million, annual distributions (5% of the corpus) have grown more than five-fold since 2002. The Endowment mitigates the unreliability of state funding and supports core K-12 programs. It is one of our community’s most precious assets and will provide a legacy for future generations.

THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING

Building a permanent Endowment Fund is the best way to protect the investment we have made – and continue to make – in educational excellence.  With state funding ever unpredictable, the Endowment represents a stable source of income, and each gift brings us closer to our goal of ensuring the continuing excellence of Piedmont’s schools in perpetuity. The Endowment provides a critical source of ongoing unrestricted funding for essential programs, including counseling and libraries, long abandoned by many California districts. The first distributions enabled the District to include an expanded computer science curriculum into its core program, making Piedmont one of the first K-12 districts in the country to adopt computer science standards. Today, the funding is included in our annual grant to PUSD which supports all teachers, staff, and essential programs.

WHY THE ENDOWMENT IS ESSENTIAL TO PEF AND PUSD

The corpus of the endowment is board-restricted and was built with the sole purpose of providing consistent, long-term financial support. Each year, annual distributions from the endowment are included in the grant to PUSD. Removing funds from the corpus would be a short-term solution for a long-term problem and a loss of critical funding to the district and our students.

HOW IS THE ENDOWMENT DIFFERENT FROM THE GIVING CAMPAIGN

All donations help our schools in different ways. Giving Campaign donations are important because they meet present-day needs, funding staff and programs in our schools now. By comparison, endowment gifts grow over time, providing a stable source of perpetual income for PEF to support our schools for years to come.
