With more than 160\,000 known species worldwide\, they come in a bewildering variety of colors\, shapes\, and sizes — from micro-moths smaller than a pinhead to giant silk moths with wingspans wider than your hand. While often overshadowed by butterflies\, moths play a vital role as pollinators\, as food sources for birds\, bats\, and wildlife\, and as indicators of healthy\, native ecosystems. \nBay Area ecologist Allen Fish is back for another fascinating Nerd Night focusing on the remarkable adaptations\, behaviors\, and mysteries that make moths truly extraordinary.
