DESCRIPTION:Piedmont High School presents Once Upon a Mattress from January 30 through February 2. Carried on a wave of wonderful songs\, by turns hilarious and raucous\, romantic and melodic\, this rollicking spin on the classic tale The Princess and the Pea provides some side-splitting shenanigans. Composer Mary Rodgers and lyricist/librettists Marshall Barer and Jay Thompson adapted the Hans Christian Andersen tale to create the musical comedy.\n\nClose to 50 student performers\, 20 student band/orchestra members\, and over 10 stage crew members collaborate to bring the community this uplifting show. Directed by PHS Dance and English teacher Amy Moorhead\, the orchestra is conducted by PHS Band and Orchestra teacher\, Trevor Meseroll. SUMMARY:Legally Blonde Jr Auditions (PMS Musical)
DESCRIPTION:This fall Piedmont Middle School will present the musical Legally Blonde Jr\, (rated G)\, with book by Heather Hatch\, and music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin. \nAuditions are right at the beginning of the school year. Virtual\, pre-recorded submissions are due Monday\, August\, 19. All 6th\, 7th\, and 8th grade students enrolled in PMS are invited to audition. Callbacks are in-person at 3:45pm on Thursday\, August 22. Click here for the Legally Blonde Jr Audition Information Packet. \nRehearsals are three times a week as follows: Tuesdays (3:45pm-5:45pm) as well as Wednesday and Thursday evenings (6:30-8:30pm) \nPerformances are Friday October 18\, 7:00pm\, Saturday\, October 19\, 2:00pm & 7:00pm\, and Sunday\, October 20\, 2:00pm \nFor Piedmont High School and Millennium High School\, Moorhead will direct and produce the musical comedy Once Upon A Mattress (rated PG).  With music by Mary Rodgers\, lyrics by Marshall Barer\, and book by Jay Thompson\, Dean Fuller and Marshall Barer\, Once Upon a Mattress\, is a comedic tweaking of the fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea”. \nAuditions are open to all students enrolled in either Piedmont High School or Millennium High School. Audition submissions are due the week of Sept. 16 and are virtual. Callbacks are in person Thursday\, Sept. 19. Full information about auditions will be made available to all PHS/MHS students in late August. Rehearsal times vary. \nPerformances are Thursday\, January 30\, 7:00pm\, Friday\, January 31\, 7:00pm\, Saturday\, February 1\, 7:00pm\, and Sunday\, February 2 (Sunday performance time to be announced) \nAll musicals are performed in the Alan Harvey Theater on the PHS campus. \nContact amoorhead@piedmont.k12.ca.us with any questions.
