Making Science Real at Millennium High School

Millennium High School students, along with science instructor Sati Shah, evaluate data collected by velocity probeware in a series of velocity measurement experiments. A grant from the Piedmont Educational Foundation provided funds for laptops, Vernier Probeware and a mobile laptop cart to support an innovative, technology integrated approach to science education at Millennium High School.

Vernier probeware consists of cutting edge computer integrated tools for conducting education based science experiments where probes are designed to collect data ranging from velocity and acceleration to heart rate and blood pressure. Once this data is collected, it can be visualized and analyzed by a computer.

Science instructor Sati Shah is working on the development of physical science, life science and chemistry laboratories using the new probeware. Implementation of these new laboratories has begun and will continue throughout the spring semester. The mobile laptop lab will also provide benefit for all the content areas at Millennium High School. A mobile laptop lab will provide opportunities for the entire faculty to develop technology-integrated curriculum for their classes.
